Overview

Earls Court development in Earls Court, London SW5.

This is the former Earls Court Exhibition Centre site. Demolished in 2016, the site is set to be redeveloped.

The Earls Court Development Company (ECDC) is transforming the 40-acre site into a dynamic urban centre with a focus on several key elements:

Landscape-led development prioritising access to nature and green spaces, the development will feature a network of exhibition gardens, including the transformation of the Table deck into a 4.5-acre urban park, fostering a connection with nature.

The project will serve as a showcase for clean and climate tech innovation, offering 2.5 million square feet of commercial space catering to startups, scale-ups, and headquarters, promoting innovation and skills development.

The development will incorporate three major cultural venues, indoor and outdoor performance spaces, rehearsal areas, and production spaces, providing a platform for artistic expression and cultural enrichment.

With over 4,000 homes planned, the development aims to create an inspiring neighbourhood catering to all stages of life, with a target of 35% affordable housing across all tenures, promoting inclusivity and diversity.

ECDC's proposals project substantial economic benefits, with an estimated £1.2 billion per year Gross Value Added (GVA) to the economy and £100 million of annual expenditure injected into the local economy.

The site spans 40 acres, with the overall scheme set to deliver approximately 7.5 million square feet of development. With 60% of the site remaining unbuilt, there is ample opportunity for open space and the thriving of nature. The development's mixed-use nature, comprising approximately 60% residential and 40% commercial, cultural, community, and retail space, aims to create a vibrant and dynamic urban environment.

Construction of the first phase is scheduled to commence in 2026.
