Global IT services provider Ciber UK Ltd has taken the remaining 10,700 sq ft at 62 Buckingham Gate on a 10 year lease, making the building fully let, reports Land Securities.

The building, which is also home to the Curzon Cinema, Benugo and Leon, is part of Land Securities’ £2 billion regeneration of Victoria, which has seen the combination of world-class office space, high quality apartments, London’s newest food quarter and improved outdoor space in and around the buildings transform the area into a vibrant destination of choice for forward-thinking businesses.

Kaela Fenn-Smith, Head of Commercial at Land Securities, said:

“We are really pleased that Ciber UK Ltd has chosen Victoria for its business location and we welcome them to 62 Buckingham Gate. We are delighted the building is fully let and Ciber adds another dimension to the variety of businesses in the building. This letting marks a significant milestone in our transformation of Victoria and a continuation of the strong momentum experienced in 2015.”

Land Securities has let 20,643 sq ft at 62 Buckingham Gate on a 10 year lease to OMV Group for their UK headquarters.

OMV, an integrated, international oil and gas business, is Austria’s largest listed industrial company.

In choosing 62 Buckingham Gate, they will join names such as The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Rolls Royce and World Fuel Services who already occupy space at the Pelli Clarke Pelli designed building.

The building also hosts high-end food outlets Benugo and the ‘naturally fast food’ company Leon. Independent cinema chain Curzon is set to open a five-screen cinema at 62 Buckingham Gate at the start of May, securing the building’s reputation as offering a truly multi-purpose space.

This latest letting means 62 Buckingham Gate is now 63% let.

Since its opening in May 2013, leading international firms have been drawn to 62 Buckingham Gate’s efficient design, natural-light filled spaces and enviable views of London. Known for its striking appearance, informed by tilting panes of glass, the building also houses two landmark art works: a Grayson Perry tapestry from his acclaimed collection The Vanity of Small Differences and Stuart Haygarth’s inspiring ‘Optical’ light installation.

The arrival of OMV will reinforce Victoria’s growing reputation as one of the West End’s most sought after destinations for office, retail and residential space. With excellent transport links and scenic parks, Victoria’s position as a destination neighbourhood is being increasingly bolstered by Land Securities’ £2billion transformation of the area.

Kaela Fenn-Smith, Head of Leasing at Land Securities, said: “OMV’s decision to relocate its UK head office to 62 Buckingham Gate is testament to the building’s exceptional office space and increasingly prestigious location. We are delighted to see a variety of leading international businesses recognising the appeal of Victoria, including high growth firms from the oil and gas sector.”

“The two cores at 62 Buckingham Gate are now complete,” reports Tony Cockerill, Project Manager for Sir Robert McAlpine. “We are pouring the concrete for the eleventh floor slab.” Now that it is nearing full-height, the tilting angles of the supporting columns have been drawing lots of bemused stares from passers-by. They hint at the unusual shape of architect Pelli Clarke Pelli’s origami-inspired folding planes that will clad the finished building. “At the start of February we lifted the first glass panels into place in the northwest corner of level one,” continues Tony. “Moving in an anti-clockwise direction, it will take about two weeks to clad each floor.

The complex geometry of the elevations means that many of the glass panels will be unique triangles and parallelograms. But, each unit is numbered so that we know exactly which piece will go where.”
Inside, the blockwork has finished in the main building and is now being painted. NG Bailey, the mechanical and electrical sub-contractor, are installing plant in the basement, including airhandling units, tanks, switch-gear for the electrics, and massive generators with metre-diameter exhausts. They have also started on the vertical piping, ductwork and trays that will carry the services up the building. Main contractor Sir Robert McAlpine made a special presentation to all the workers in January to mark a calendar year with no reportable accidents. “We want everyone going home safe every day,” says Tony. “Hopefully, in May we will reach two full years with no reportable accidents.”
