The LOOM
Key Details
Overview
The LOOM is an office building in Aldgate, London E1.
The Grade II listed building renovations completed in Autumn 2016.
Once a wool storage warehouse, the building was refurbished to provide over 100,000ft2 of office space, a new café, and the relocation of the main entrance to the old loading bay.
The design seeks to explore and reveal the building's history, whilst introducing new interventions to meet the requirements of a modern commercial building in London. The raw metal screens reference the buildings textile and manufacturing history, whilst utilising a material that will patina with time.
