Lockdown in luxury

Friday 5th February 2021

In a week where Nick Candy made the cover of Property Week, celebrating 10 years from the launch of London’s super-prime residential development One Hyde Park, a UK TV series debuts showing the lockdown luxury of the top Mayfair homes.

The new Channel 5 TV series ‘Posh Sleepover‘ starts on Saturday 6th February 2021 at 7 pm, with each hour-long programme featuring actor Sally Lindsay (Cold Call, Mount Pleasant and Still Open All Hours) paying a visit and sleeping over in some of the poshest and most expensive homes in Britain.

K10 Group CEO Kam Babaee and his partner Ana Totoc.

The first programme of the series stars K10 Group CEO Kam Babaee, his family and his two Mayfair homes.

Sally first visits Audley House, the family’s home in Audley Square. The house sits right next to billionaire John Caudwell‘s Audley Square development.

The Grade II listed three-storey Georgian townhouse was originally built in 1780. Wolff Architects have recently turned it into a luxurious 8,700 sqft residence with an elegant entrance hall, main staircase, three reception rooms, study, family kitchen, passenger lift, basement swimming pool and spa complex and five VIP bedroom suites.

Sally’s sleepover takes place at Culross House on Culross Street off Park Lane. The £30 million newly built townhouse-mansion just moments from Hyde Park consists of the transformation of the site of the Coach House of the Earls of Essex, into a new 8,051 sq ft (747.99m2) five-bedroom ambassadorial house, complete with cinema/club room, swimming pool, spa complex and private rear garden.

In the TV programme, Kam shows Sally around the house and points out features such as the glass lift, Hermes bedroom suite and marble entrance hall. The specification, interior design and dressing for Culross House has been created by K10 Group’s interior design team. The interiors of Culross House have been designed to be a celebration of the ‘Best of British’ classic design, with key rooms inspired by famous five-star hotels and VIP venues from around the world.

The building is listed for sale with Savills with a guide price of £29m.

Later this year, K10 Group is due to launch a £75 million mansion in the heart of Knightsbridge, Amberwood House. Formerly the London home of Dame Margot Fonteyn and her husband Panamanian Ambassador Roberto Emilio Arias, the house was originally built in 1928. It has been transformed into a 15,300 sqft private mansion, hidden behind walled landscaped gardens and accessed via a private gated driveway: the only mansion in Knightsbridge with a long private driveway.

Features will include a double-height entrance hall with feature chandelier, grand staircase built in Portland stone, the main reception room with French doors opening onto the garden, a club room with a cinema and cocktail bar and a luxurious health spa complex with a gymnasium and a swimming pool room clad in Travertine marble with a 14-metre pool, feature waterfalls and coffered ceiling.

Kam Babaee, Founder & CEO of K10 Group commented: “We agreed to work with the filmmakers at Chatterbox because they are a BAFTA-winning production company and we established a good rapport with co-Founder Alison Quirk and her talented production team. K10 Group design and build some of the most outstanding mansions in Central London but we felt that by collaborating with a TV-series we could bring our brand to a wider audience. Alongside showcasing Culross House the TV series gave us an opportunity to provide viewers with an insight into the family behind the brand alongside a view of the lifestyle provided by the shops and cafes of Mayfair. I am very aware that my family enjoy a privileged lifestyle but my hope is that viewers get to see how grounded and straightforward we are, and how important the love and support of my family is to me and the success of K10 Group.”

Alison Quirk, Co-owner of Chatterbox said: “It was a pleasure working with Kam and his family and getting an insight into their lifestyle. Filming during this era of COVID-19 is not without its challenges, but we were fortunate to be able to film the series during the warm summer months of 2020 so we had the advantage of being able to do a lot of filming outdoors. The large K10 Group properties enabled us to film whilst still observing social distancing and health safeguarding. Hopefully, the series will bring viewers some much-needed escapism from the comfort of their sofas.”

Sally Lindsay’s Posh Sleepover starts Saturday 6th February 2021 at 7pm on Channel 5.
