Growing Brixton Rec Quarter is a residential-led mixed-use development in Brixton, London SW9.
The transformation at 49 Brixton Station Road and 6 Canterbury Crescent will deliver around 240 new homes that meet the needs of Brixton residents including larger family homes. Half of these will be affordable homes comprising 70% at council rents and 30% as either Shared Ownership or London Living Rent.
International House will be retained and extensively refurbished to provide 7,800m2 workspace for local businesses and a further commitment to making at least 20% of the building affordable workspace.
The development includes significant improvements to the public realm.
In 2021 the 49 Brixton Station Road site houses a number of temporary uses including Pop Brixton, a market trader car park, a ‘Pay and Display’ car park and a waste compactor compound.
6 Canterbury Crescent, known as International House, is an 11/12-storey office block built in the 1980s as part of the Brixton Recreation Centre complex.
