Overview

Gloucester Gardens is a new residential building on the former site of 19 garages comprising lower ground, ground and two upper storeys providing eight self-contained flats (1x 1-bed, 5x 2-bed and 2 x 3-bed) together with the plant area, refuse store, bicycle stores and car parking.

The site formerly contained 10 surface car parking spaces and nine underground car parking spaces in a 1950s concrete block of flat roof garaging. Prior to the site being war damaged and the garaging subsequently being erected, it is understood that a matching semi-detached villa of similar scale, height and form to that at 205 Gloucester Terrace which dates from the 1870s was in situ on this site. This neighbouring building is recognised as an unlisted building of merit within the Bayswater Conservation Area and is a prominent corner building that is regarded as an early to mid 19'‘ Century semi-detached villa building. Listed buildings are located nearby in the terraces that form Orsett Terrace and Gloucester Gardens.

The land within the site slopes steeply down to the low level car parking and the communal gardens to the rear and a number of fine trees are located within these gardens, on the side boundary with Gloucester Gardens and a substantial Lime tree is situated to the rear of the site.
