Overview

Bury Street is a proposed sustainable office-led development on the site of the existing buildings in the City of London EC3.

Stiff + Trevillion on behalf of WELPUT has designed a new ground plus 43-storey office building including active uses at lower levels, including retail, food and beverage, and community uses, with extensive new public realm including a pocket park and a restoration of the historic public route through the build linking Bevis Marks to Bury Street called Heneage Arcade.

The building will be designed to high sustainability standards, incorporating
urban greening, climate resilience, energy efficiency, targeting BREEAM 'Outstanding' and adopting Circular Economy principles.

The planning application submitted in January 2024 proposes the demolition of Bury House and partial demolition of Holland House and Renown House, followed by restoration and construction activities. This includes building up to ground plus 8 storeys at Holland House, ground plus 5 storeys at Renown House, and a new structure of 4 basement levels and ground plus 43 storeys. The interconnected buildings are intended for office, flexible retail/café, and flexible community/education/cultural/amenity uses. Additionally, the proposal includes amenities such as covered pedestrian routes, cycle parking, landscaping, and highway improvements.

The development will create a high-quality office development with public uses on lower floors, respecting the area's diversity, character, and history. The project intends to enhance the public realm and promote sustainability across environmental, economic, social, and cultural aspects.

The proposed development will provide accommodation including 34,584 sqm GIA Office space, 504 sqm GIA retail/café space, 1,411 sqm GIA Community/Education/Cultural/Amenity(Sui Generis) space, along with ancillary facilities in the basement/back of house.
