Overview

50 Berkeley Square is a Grade II listed mid-terraced townhouse from 1750 in Mayfair, London W1. The four-storey building with basement is internally interlinked at basement level with its mews No. 50 Hay’s Mews. There is a garden between the buildings.

It is one of the best-preserved houses on the square.

Haunted House

The stories vary but most say that the attic room is haunted by the ghost and that many people who have stayed in the house have died.

There is no evidence of such incidents and the rumours probably started because the house was in a derelict state until the Antiquarian Booksellers Maggs Brothers bought the house in 1938 and restored it.[1]

Famous Residents:
- George Canning 1770-1827 Statesman lived here. Blue plaque on front elevation of the building.
