Overview
Tate Modern is the national gallery of international modern art, situated on a 3.43-hectare (8.48 acre) site on the south side of the River Thames opposite St Paul's Cathedral. The building designed by architect Sir Giles Gilbert Scott used to be a power station that had closed in 1982.
The nearest tube station is Southwark (Jubilee line) - 600 metres. Blackfriars is ca 800 metres away.
2016 - The new extension Switch House designed by Herzog de Meuron opens.
