Key Details
Overview
VIVO is a residential complex in Stepney, London E1.
VIVO was completed in November 2013. There was a mix of 462 social rented, shared ownership and freehold properties advertised.
Won ‘best apartment building' title in the 2013 Sunday Times British Homes awards.
More than 800 new homes were built near Ben Jonson Road and Harford Street as well as near Shandy Park and White Horse Lane. Close to the canal and Mile End Park, the area is well served in terms of transport links and local amenities.
The VIVO homes are highly insulated and have an air tightness that exceeds current regulations. Individual homes are provided with mechanical ventilation with heat recovery to provide improved climate control within each dwelling.
The project incorporates a sustainable strategy providing 10% renewables through the use of central heating plan. Throughout low energy light fittings, dual flush WC's and aerating taps all contribute to achieving Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4. The completed VIVO will set a new standard of high quality residential, sustainable development in London's East End, bringing a new vibrancy to the area with active street edges, lush landscaped courtyards and improved public realm.
VIVO's private courtyards are at the heart of each block. They're there for all residents to enjoy and their layouts relate to the surrounding architecture so that they can be seen as one, unified space.
Together, the lush landscaped courtyards and gardens create a variety of smaller spaces. Ideal for relaxing, imaginative play, socialising, building a community. It's up to you. The courtyard's facades are clad in a smooth pale cream brick that acts as a neutral backdrop to the colour and excitement of the gardens. They also reflect and maximise the amount of daylight and sunlight that floods through the gaps between the buildings.
VIVO is brought to you through a partnership between First Base and East Thames, combining the expertise of two leading London developers.
