Claridge's is a luxury hotel in Mayfair, London W1.

The hotel was first opened in 1856.

1812 - Founded by William and Marianne Claridge as "Mivart's Hotel" on Brook Street.

1854 - William and Marianne Claridge purchased the adjoining five buildings and expanded the hotel. The establishment was then renamed "Claridge's, late Mivart's."

Late 19th Century - Claridge's became known as the extension to Buckingham Palace due to the number of royal guests and visits.

1898 - The hotel was bought by Richard D'Oyly Carte, owner of The Savoy, and was incorporated into his Savoy Group.

1920s - Under the management of the Savoy Group, the old building was demolished, and a new building with an Art Deco interior was constructed in its place.

1930s - Claridge's becomes the epicentre of London's social scene, with guests including Audrey Hepburn, Cary Grant, and Katherine Hepburn.

1945 - After World War II, several exiled royals and heads of state stayed at Claridge's, including King Peter II of Yugoslavia and King George II of Greece.

1990s - Claridge’s underwent a significant renovation, bringing back the 1930s art deco elegance while introducing modern luxury amenities.
