The Bank of England moved to the current site in 1734. The current building complex on 2ha was designed by Sir Herbert Baker in 1939. The curtain wall was designed by Sir John Soane in 1788. [1]
The nickname for the building is 'The Old Lady of Threadneedle Street'.
