Overview

Kemp Porter Buildings at 140 Wales Farm Road is the new campus by Imperial College in North Acton, London W3.

The existing buildings were demolished and five new buildings arranged over 5 to 30 storeys were constructed.

Student Accommodation
Kemp Porter Buildings offer self-catered study accommodation for 585 undergraduate students. These are arranged in Cluster Units, Twin Units, Studios, Warden Units and Sub Warden Units. The student accommodation raises to 30 stories creating an iconic identity for the student accommodation.

The rooms are allocated as part of Imperial’s guarantee to offer accommodation to all eligible first year undergraduate students. Rent for first year accommodation as a whole is set so that it covers the College’s maintenance, capital and running costs for accommodation – the College does not generate a surplus. The students’ union is involved in setting rent levels for the different halls.

Alongside the student accommodation, Imperial is also building a 10-storey block of 85 residential flats, with a mix of studio and 1-2 bedrooms. All of the flats are rented, and 35% will be offered at the London Living Rent to key workers including Imperial staff.

Offices
The office/commercial development of 67,000sq ft of high quality, flexible office accommodation is arranged over 6 floors.

New Apartments For Rent
85 residential units. The residential accommodation was developed as Private Rented Sector accommodation. 35 of the residential units are delivered as affordable housing in the form of Discount Market Rent available to College Key Workers.

2019 October - The building tops out.
2017 August - Planning permission granted by Ealing Council ref no 172682FUL.
January - Imperial College acquires the 1.8 acre site for the development of a new hall of residence for Imperial undergraduates.

Former home of the Elizabeth Arden factory. Elizabeth Arden perfumes and cosmetics were manufactured and distributed here.
