Overview

The Hertford is a redevelopment of Park Lane Mews Hotel building in Mayfair, London W1.

The new development designed by BGY will improve the Mayfair Conservation Area and the listed building at 36 Hertford Street. The hotel uses will be consolidated and extended into Market Mews, while the Hertford Street buildings will continue as residential properties with one being rebuilt and the other remodelled and extended.

The existing site at 2-6 Stanhope Row; 16 Stanhope Row 36 And 37 Hertford Street 16a, 16B And 17 Market Mews includes a 72-room four-star hotel, and three residential buildings comprising 17 units.
- The Park Lane Mews Hotel: a 75-bed 4-star hotel, located at 2 Stanhope Row.
- 36 and 37 Hertford Street: two residential buildings accommodating 13 apartments (36 Hertford Street is Grade II listed.)
- 16 Stanhope Row and 16 & 17 Market Mews: 3 units, plus 1 windowless cellar unit.

The green plaque on the building reads: "On this site, until destroyed by bombing during the winter of 1940, stood an archway and Mayfair's oldest house 'The Cottage 1618 A.D.' from where a shepherd tended his flock whilst Tyburn idled nearby."
