The new £45 million Cambium residential scheme reached its first milestone with a ground-breaking ceremony, reports McLaren Construction.

In attendance was the Deputy Leader of Wandsworth Council Cllr Jonathan Cook, Lendlease Head of Residential Development, Richard Cook and McLaren Construction Project Director, Myles Dawson, who all marked the commencement of construction works for the important project. The Councillor went on to Our Lady Queen of Heaven School to unveil two roads named by the pupils – Helena Close and Beatrice Place.

The development is well underway with the site establishment, ground works and piling in progress.

Myles Dawson, Project Director, McLaren Construction London said:

‘’At McLaren we are excited to be the first main contractor to be awarded such a prestigious scheme from our construction partners at Lendlease. We look forward to working alongside Lendlease where we can both learn from our respective businesses to ensure a successful delivery for not only this scheme but many more in the future. ‘’

Richard Cook, Head of Residential at Lendlease, commented:

“Cambium will create a vibrant new community in the heart of Southfields and we are delighted to welcome Cllr Cook and pupils from Our Lady Queen of Heaven today to mark this significant development milestone – the start of work on site. All homes at Cambium will be delivered to the Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4.
