McLaren Construction Ltd’s South division will be building the Tiger Way project in Hackney.

Construction works include the demolition of the existing single storey school, piling, reinforced concrete, sub and superstructures, terracotta cladding and high quality fit out.

The Mayor of Hackney, Philip Glanville and Deputy Mayor of Hackney, Cllr Anntoinette Bramble officially broke ground on the site alongside The Head Teacher of Nightingale Primary School, Abigail Hopper and the McLaren Construction team, to mark the start of construction works.

Deputy Mayor of Hackney, Cllr Anntoinette Bramble, said:

“This is a really important step in our programme to ensure that we have enough local school places for Hackney pupils. It was great to invite pupils who will directly benefit from this school to visit the site – they were really excited to see work getting under way.’’

The started on site in January 2017 and is looking to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating with an anticipation of the schools ready for occupation as early as December 2018 and the remaining residential units’ phased up to November 2019.
