151-157 Tower Bridge Road plans were unanimously approved by Southwark Council’s planning committee on Wednesday 24 May 2017.

First Base and Starwood Capital appointed the global architecture practice Arney Fender Katsalidis to design the scheme, with a GDV of £130m. The development will create three buildings through the use of a curvaceous ribbon of spacious balconies, producing a distinctive, characterful and exciting architectural design.

The buildings will provide 69 apartments and a 137 bed apart-hotel. The ground floor of the buildings bring together a community of independent shops and boutiques as well as flexible workspace for creative businesses in the Bermondsey area.

The new courtyard at the heart of the development will have mature trees and a seating area.

Barry Jessup, Director at First Base, commented:
“We are delighted that Southwark Council share our enthusiasm for bringing forward these unique and characterful buildings to Bermondsey. As with all First Base schemes, we look forward to combining high quality architecture that will become iconic to this area with active and enlivened public spaces for residents and visitors to enjoy.”
