McMullen Facades has been awarded a multimillion pound contract by Canary Wharf Contractors Limited to deliver a bespoke unitised façade system to 10 Park Drive.
The two 14 and 42-storey residential towers will feature ground floor retail space.
McMullen Facades’ contract includes the design, manufacture and installation of the facades for both buildings, with the main body of unitised facade work featuring an innovative system that is being developed in collaboration with supply chain partner Hueck.
McMullen’s scope of works also includes the delivery of the scheme’s cladding package, high specification aluminium swing doors, lift and slide doors, window systems, structural glass balustrades, aluminium soffits and aluminium privacy screens between apartments.
The contract has benefited from significant early engagement with McMullen’s in-house design team who have worked closely with the project’s façade consultants FM+DC to ensure that the bespoke façade solution adheres to their specific requirements as well as the overall architectural concept. Laboratory testing to CWCT standard test methods is programmed for the end of July.
The façade elements, including the unitised panels, sliding doors and vents, will be manufactured off-site at McMullen’s recently expanded manufacturing facility in Portadown, Northern Ireland.
With early design work well underway, McMullen is expected to commence work on site at New District in October 2017.
McMullen’s’ appointment follows their past success of the innovative glazing and cladding package to Canary Wharf’s flagship Crossrail station. McMullen Facades also boasts an impressive portfolio of projects in the London high-rise residential market. The team is currently on site delivering the full vertical envelope to two of Elephant and Castle’s highest developments – the new 41-storey Two Fifty One scheme and The Highwood, a new 31-storey residential tower in Elephant Park.
