King Edwards

Linden Homes celebrated a key construction milestone this week, as King Edwards reached its maximum height of 16,500mm.

The event was marked with a traditional Topping Out ceremony that was led by the housebuilder and attended by the Mayor of Hackney at the site.

Linden Homes has now transformed King Edwards into a collection of 32 one, two and three-bedroom apartments and duplexes.

Philip Glanville, Mayor of Hackney laid one of the final bricks in a parapet wall on-site at the event.

Roseanne Bullen, Sales and Marketing Manager at Linden Homes Eastern commented: “We are thrilled that we can mark our construction progress at King Edwards and we had a great time celebrating at the Topping-Out event as we take another step closer to the finish line.

“It’s fair to say that Hackney is a thriving area and a great place to live and work. The mix of apartments and duplex properties will appeal to a cross-section of people and we think this, mixed with the apartments being on a road without any through-traffic, make the homes really appealing for those wanting to buy their own place and enjoy the local amenities. Many of the homes will also benefit from their own outside terrace, balcony or roof terrace.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming new residents once the development is complete, and see the vision of a new community at King Edwards become a reality”.

Construction is anticipated to be complete in December 2017 following the final roofing works throughout the development, with the first residents set to move into the completed social units in October.

Philip Glanville, Mayor of Hackney, said of the Topping-Out event and construction milestone: “I’m proud that Hackney has one of the biggest social housebuilding programmes in the country, delivering new, much-needed council homes for local people.

“That’s why I was delighted to join local residents to mark this latest milestone in building the thousands of homes our borough, and our city, so badly needs.”

Several of the properties are available with Help to buy London, providing a leg-up on to the capital’s competitive property ladder. Buyers require a minimum deposit of just 5%, along with a 40% government loan and a 55% mortgage, to secure selected King Edwards apartments.

The homes are also conveniently located in East London, only half a mile from London Fields, Cambridge Heath and Hackney Central train stations. Nearby is also the prestigious Columbia Road flower market, Victoria Park and London Fields.

Demand for the homes is already extremely high after the first phase of properties were bought off-plan last October and following an open day held in April this year.
