Lambeth Council’s Planning Applications Committee has voted in favour of U+I and the London Fire Brigade’s proposals for the redevelopment of 8 Albert Embankment.
The 8 Albert Embankment scheme, designed by architect Pilbrow & Partners, will deliver a new mixed-use community that offers significant benefits to the local community.
The transformed site will provide a new fire station for Lambeth, with modern facilities for firefighters, and a new permanent home for the London Fire Brigade Museum.
Proposals also include 443 new homes, 40% of which will be affordable; 1,264 jobs across 100,000 sq ft of new workspace and new public spaces across the site. The iconic Grade II listed former London Fire Brigade HQ will also be restored to house a new fire station, museum, rooftop restaurant and hotel.
