Societe Generale’s fit-out at One Bank Street has achieved BREEAM Refurbishment and Fit-Out ‘Outstanding’ with a score of 86.12% - the first to be achieved by a bank, reportsproject manager G&T.

The fit-out is the first at the 700,000 sq ft new build office building in London’s Canary Wharf. So far only 15 projects in the UK have achieved BREEAM Refurbishment and Fit-Out ‘Outstanding’.

G&T provided Project Management services on the 280,000 sq ft fit-out which was undertaken while the base build works were carried out. The new state-of-the-art trading floors will support 1,200 traders with a ‘market place’ restaurant and a winter garden with a creative interconnecting staircase linking the trading floors.

The improvements included:

- Energy efficient lighting and systems
- Low water consuming fittings and use of greywater systems together with a comprehensive metering strategy
- An embodied carbon assessment to limit the impact of the fit-out materials in addition to designing out waste
- Good air quality with low VOC products where possible

G&T partner Oliver King commented: "The award of this highest BREEAM rating is the culmination of five years of hard work and close collaboration between all members of the client and professional team. The initial BREEAM brief has been greatly exceeded and provides the bank with a fantastic headquarters that will serve its staff for many years."
