London Borough of Hounslow has approved plans for the regeneration of the Tesco site in Osterley.

The Outline Planning Application comprises 1,677 new build homes, of which 35% will be affordable. The development will include up to 5,000m2 of commercial and community uses, including three significant new public spaces, The Clearing, The Water Gardens and The Meander.

Osterley Place will be a zero-carbon neighbourhood and will provide 2 hectares of new natural landscapes with over 300 new trees to ensure an overall net gain in biodiversity – benefitting wildlife, residents and the wider community.

The Tesco store will be relocated on the adjacent Homebase site as part of a wider mixed-use proposal known as Syon Gardens.

Ian Fenn, Partner at JTP, the architects, commented: "These proposals will transform Osterley establishing a new focus for local residents and workers, set around natural green spaces and a new community heart. Varied scales of streets and spaces will create a community of shared interests and appeal to different residents’ needs and desires."
