Notting Hill Genesis has submitted a Reserved Matters Application (RMA) to transform London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) properties near Hackney Wick station into a new neighbourhood centre.

The development will provide 190 new homes across 5 buildings, 50% of which will be affordable.

The scheme also includes 4,000m2 of commercial space, and more than 4,000m2 of new, high-quality public space plus further residential play areas, roof terraces and podiums.

The Reserved Matters Application is compliant with the New London Plan for cycle parking provision and has a focus on sustainability, with no fossil fuels needed to power the homes or commercial space.

The site is owned by the London Legacy Development Corporation and sits on the border of Hackney and Tower Hamlets. Notting Hill Genesis was chosen as a development partner in March 2021.

John Hughes, group director of development for Notting Hill Genesis, commented: "The opportunity to develop a site like Hackney Wick, in a thriving area with fantastic transport links to the rest of London and beyond, is a really exciting one. We look forward to working with LLDC to provide these new homes and workspaces and creating a desirable destination for individuals, families, businesses and visitors."

Lyn Garner, Chief Executive of the London Legacy Development Corporation, said: “It’s so exciting to see our plans for Hackney Wick neighbourhood centre progressing to bring real benefits for local people and businesses."

Full planning approval is expected later this year followed with works beginning in the latter part of 2022. The buildings and public realm are expected to be completed in 2025.
