Topped out

The construction of the residential scheme at Lisson Arches has reached the highest point. Westminster City Council & United Living New Homes celebrated the achievement with a ‘topping out’ ceremony.

Lisson Arches will consist of 60 new community supportive homes in central London. Fifty-nine will be one-bedroom apartments available at social rent, supporting vulnerable people to live independently – 45 of the new homes will meet Housing for an Ageing Population Panel for Innovation (HAPPI) principles. The other unit will be a two-bedroom scheme for on-site residential managers.

The development also includes a 1,300sqm business enterprise space in part of the building’s base.

Cllr Heather Acton, Westminster City Council Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Communities, commented: “Building homes designed to support people living independently is one of the council’s key priorities.

“The new homes are much-needed for our residents and are part of our wider Church Street regeneration programme, which will see the creation of around 1,750 quality homes.

“We want local people and businesses to remain at the heart of Westminster and we have been working closely with the local community to shape the plans for the regeneration.”

Conor Bray, Chief Operating Officer, United Living Group, added: “The topping out of the Lisson Arches structure is an important milestone for both the development and our partnership with Westminster City Council.

“This development will create much needed modern homes and new affordable business and enterprise space which will make a positive difference to people’s lives – supporting the council’s broader goals of driving transformational change and supporting the community in the Church Street area.

“United Living are proud to be creating homes in a borough with some of the most significantly important and historic buildings in England”.
