To celebrate the start of the project’s construction, developers Stanhope and construction manager, Mace, held a ceremony last week with 150 guests to mark the occasion.
The site team placed concrete in the first pile on Plot C. Project investors Mitsui Fudosan and Canadian investment fund manager, AIMco also attended the event.
Jon Foster, Mace Project Director at Television Centre, said:
“A big thanks to everyone who has come today and been part of the project’s first milestone. This is a great project to be part of and Mace is looking forward to getting stuck in and progressing with the construction work. This is an important community project and there is some great history here which we are going to preserve and improve for future generations.”
Alastair Shaw, Stanhope’s Managing Director of Television Centre, said:
“This development is really exciting because the building isn’t just going to contain apartments or office space, but it will be a mixed use redevelopment, including film and production studios that will be retained as part of its history, and still be used by television and production companies.”
