Mace's Andrew Kinsey was honoured with a Rising Star award at Ecobuild 2013 last week.

As Mace's Head of Sustainability for Construction, Andrew beat off five finalists to take home the inaugural Rising Star Award during the UK Green Building Council's (UKGBC) sixth birthday members' reception.

Judges were impressed by Andrew's ability to "influence change from site worker to the boardroom". They referenced his sustainability success at the Athlete's Village on behalf of the Olympic Delivery Authority, his influence over the Park's certification and his role in the the creation of nine new Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified suppliers.

Described as a 'champion of sustainable timber,' Andrew was also highly commended for his work with MP's on EU timber regulations and waste, his ambassadorship for sustainability within his organisation and his ability to communicate with contractors on best practice in sustainability.

The awards offer the opportunity for professional recognition amongst the built environment community and for those who have made a real difference to the sustainability agenda, whilst shining a light on their achievements.

Andrew said: "I am thrilled to receive this award especially when amongst so many other talented professionals. These awards are testament to the hard work we all do to promote sustainability and I very much look forward to continuing to work with Isabel to deliver solutions for Mace and the wider industry."

Director of Sustainability for Mace, Isabel McAllister, said: I've been working with Andrew for just over a year now and to think what we have achieved together in such a short time is testament to his great working ethic and exceptional standards in delivering sustainable outcomes in the built environment. I am very much looking forward to working with Andrew in the future in ensuring Mace continues to lead by example in sustainable practice. Well done!!"

Mark Reynolds, CEO for Mace, said: "Congratulations, it's a fantastic achievement. I've observed the fantastic work that Andrew did on the Athletes Village and in the 13 months that he's been with us, he and Isabel have made a great improvement in driving forward our sustainability agenda."
