The development included the demolition of all existing buildings on site except for the Pennington Street Warehouse, which is Grade II Listed and the refurbishment of Times House, which sits between Pennington Street and the Highway.

The first phase of development, which includes 206 private sale apartments, commenced in March 2014 with completions from early 2017.

Completion of the entire site expected in 2029.

2014 September - official UK launch

2014 January - planning permission granted by London Borough of Tower Hamlets council.

2012 May - St Geroge acquires London Docks site.

Located in the heart of the capital, just moments from Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, St Katharine Docks and the City, London Dock combines modern city living with riverside wharves and cobbled streets, in one of London's most historic neighbourhoods.

St George is launching Emery Wharf at London Dock this Saturday and Sunday 13th and 14th May 2017, with a selection of Manhattan suites, one bedroom Manhattan and one, two and three bedroom apartments available from £539,950.

The first phase of London Dock was completed in December 2016, with residents moving into their new homes in Clipper Wharf and the first of 6.5 acres of public space opened. This included the unveiling of Trading Words; a public art installation inspired by the historic lists of goods imported and exported via London over the past 400 years. Once complete, Trading Words will span the full length of the development and contain over 1,000 words.

Emery Wharf was named after one of the goods imported and is the latest release of new homes at London Dock.

Designed by renowned architects Patel Taylor, it is located in a prime position at the entrance to the development and features a striking brick facade.

Inspired by the area's distinctive architecture and trading heritage, Emery Wharf showcases a unique new mid-century modern specification; open plan kitchens finished with integrated black appliances, and bathrooms with black framed bath and shower screens, referencing the site's historic use as a mercantile centre.

Comprising one bedroom Manhattan, one, two and three bedroom apartments, Emery Wharf includes a new addition to London Dock - the Manhattan suite; efficiently designed to combine open plan living and bedroom spaces, with a fully fitted kitchen, shower room and ample storage space.

Residents will benefit from exclusive access to a private entrance courtyard, as well as two private roof gardens, offering outdoor spaces for relaxing or entertaining against a backdrop of spectacular views towards the City.

Residents will also have exclusive access to facilities including a wifi enabled lounge, state-of-the-art gymnasium and swimming pool, complete with sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi, a squash court, private screening room, virtual golf suite and 24-hour concierge.

Marcus Blake, Managing Director, St George City said: "Designed to reflect the heritage of the docks in both architecture and interior design, Emery Wharf combines new and old, capturing the history of the site and combining it with leading design from Patel Taylor."

"This latest phase of London Dock will offer a range of new homes at a range of prices to suit a variety of buyers, with two fantastic private roof gardens, ideally located just a short distance from the City."

Andrew Taylor, Director, Patel Taylor added:
"Emery Wharf is the latest addition to the collection of unique buildings at London Dock. Taking inspiration from the historic Pennington Street Warehouse, this prominent new brick building confidently establishes new street edges and spaces of arrival through a considered form of recognisable and timeless materials."

Situated in a prime location within a short walk of zone 1 transport connections from Tower Hill and Aldgate, residents of London Dock are well-positioned to benefit from swift access across the whole of London. Crossrail will also serve nearby Whitechapel.

Six acres of new public space is being created across London Dock, including landscaped promenades, water gardens and Gauging Square, a grand piazza animated by a choreographed water feature.

At the heart of London Dock is the Grade-II listed Pennington Street Warehouse which once stored many high-value goods imported into the docks. It will be the commercial centre of the development, brought to life with an eclectic mix of shops, restaurants and offices.

The London Dock Marketing Suite is located on Vaughan Way and is open every day.

London’s leading residential developer St George launched the London Dock development in London on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th September.

The dramatic rejuvenation of the site, once synonymous with Britain’s vast naval trade and part of the original London Docks which operated until 1969, will include stunning new buildings set in landscaped open space, including 2 new public squares and a unique 375-metre promenade. The buildings will create a distinct new residential quarter boasting views towards the City, Tower Bridge, St Katharine Docks, Canary Wharf and the River Thames.

The first release, Admiral Wharf, will comprise a stunning collection of highly specified one, two and three bedroom apartments, with well-appointed kitchens and bathrooms and enviable air conditioned living spaces. Interior architect, 1508 London, has designed the homes to capture the essence of the docks, creating modern spaces inspired by the diverse imports and exports that passed through the gates of London Dock, with colours, textures and materials combining to produce crisp, clean interiors.

As well as an array of new shops and leisure facilities, residents at London Dock will have access to hotel-style residents’ facilities, including; 24 hour concierge, managed car parking, a health and fitness suite with a gymnasium, 20 metre indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and squash court, as well as a treatment room, private screening room and virtual golf suite.

The sensitive restoration of the Grade II listed Pennington Street Warehouse will be the commercial heart of the development. The 315m long listed warehouse, featuring an impressive vaulted basement rich in original features, including the portholes through which barrels of rum were once delivered from the dock, will become a Covent Garden style commercial space, accommodating an eclectic mix of uses.

Central to the design are a series of impressive public spaces with different characters and styles. At the heart of London Dock will be Gauging Square – a vibrant square including a spectacular water feature, surrounded by shops, bars and restaurants. Arrival Square will form a dramatic and colourful gateway to London Dock, while the lush green landscaped Market Gardens and private Water Gardens are the perfect places for peace and reflection.

Craig Carson, Managing Director, St George City Limited, comments:

“Our commitment to the restoration and regeneration of this historic area will see the delivery of an exciting new part of the city with new homes, open spaces, public squares and the creation of many jobs for the local community. The opportunity to create an entirely new mixed-use destination, on a site that has for so long been off limits to the public, is a great privilege.”

St George appointed award-winning architect, Patel Taylor, to bring to life the vision to create a new London quarter. The founding principles of permeability, connectivity and open public space have informed the character of the development.

Andrew Taylor, of architects Patel Taylor, comments:

“The opportunity to create rich new public spaces is very exciting. The guiding principle of our work has been to facilitate access to the site and to integrate London Dock with its surroundings.

“The high quality public spaces will provide an attractive setting for the first phase of the development, featuring a large open piazza with an interactive water feature, landscaping, shops, bars and restaurants. These aspects combine to create a space where people will want to live, work, and socialise – this is the essence of placemaking.”

Mark Collins, Chairman, CBRE Residential, commented:

“London Dock is one of the most anticipated new developments to launch in London this year. Its proximity to the River Thames, the City and some of London’s most famous landmarks, presents an excellent opportunity to own a home in a truly unique and thoughtfully designed setting.”
