Blackwall Yard
Key Details
Overview
Blackwall Yard is a mixed-use development by Hadley Property in Poplar, London E14.
The development proposals, submitted to the Council in November 2020, proposed the delivery of 898 new homes, a two-form primary school, a community hub, spaces for a cafe, pub and grocery store, all built around a new public square and green spaces.
35% of the new homes will be affordable housing.
The path along the River Thames on the site will finally open to the public. There will be a new pub and restaurant, with panoramic views across the Thames and Docklands.
At the heart of Blackwall Yard is a historic Grade II-listed Gravity Dock, redeveloped into an outdoor swimming space.
Sustainability
150 new trees will be planted to create new habitats, reduce wind impacts and improve air quality.
Around 1,000m2 of the roof area will include green sedum, biodiverse and biosolar roofs to enhance biodiversity.
Solar panels are installed on the Primary School roof to help reduce carbon footprint.
