Mike Bickerton, Head of UK New Homes at Cushman & Wakefield, commented: “Shoreditch has long been in high demand among trendy young Londoners looking to be a part of its vibrant community. This location tends to attract a wide range of buyers, from City Workers and those employed within the tech industries to young families and even downsizers, looking to be at the heart of the action. Homes at The Makers have been finished to an excellent specification and provide a range of homes to suit every requirement, from one bedroom apartments through to spectacular duplexes with their own roof gardens. The sheer scale of regeneration around the northern City fringes in the last five years has made the area the number one choice for lifestyle orientated buyers, with an eye on future growth potential.”

Robert Soning, Founder and COO of Londonewcastle said: “The Makers will appeal to locals and newcomers to this vibrant area of East London. As well as creating high quality apartments in the heart of London’s leading creative district and close to tech city at Old Street roundabout, the development is within walking distance of the popular Regents Canal creating links further east to Limehouse Basin, through central London and King’s Cross, up to Little Venice.”

McLaren and London Borough of Hackney celebrated the start of construction at the Nile Street development last week.

The Nile Street development, constructed by the Major Project division of McLaren Construction Ltd, will be doing the works that include the demolition and enabling works, groundworks, reinforced concrete superstructure and post-tensioned floor slabs. With precast concrete cladding to the low-level blocks and unitised curtain walling to the tower.

John Butten, Regional MD of McLaren Construction Major Projects said: ‘’We are delighted to be working with HSF2 and look forward to a successful project. This job is a testament to our growing reputation and track record in the education and mixed-use sector. We are very excited to engage with the local community and getting involved in work that is of benefit to Hackney.’’

The scheme is set to achieve a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating with an anticipation of the school ready for occupation as early as December 2018 and the remaining residential units’ completion phased up to November 2019.
