The Forge
The Forge is the UK’s first net zero carbon commercial building, constructed and operated in line with the UK’s Green Building Council’s (UKGBC) framework definition of net zero carbon buildings.
The Forge is the world’s first large-scale office scheme built using a standardised “kit of parts”, an approach known as platform design for manufacture and assembly (P-DfMA).
The structural steelwork, temporary works, cladding and on-floor MEP are all standardised at The Forge, based on a prototype created by client Landsec with their design partners Bryden Wood and manufacturing specialist Easi-Space.
Two office buildings, Bronze and Phosphor, will benefit from a range of amenities including terraces on different levels, all focused around an internal courtyard.
A 19.4% reduction in embodied carbon is predicted and an expected productivity gain of 13.5% through automated construction and a multi-skilled workforce.
