The Royal Quarter Café will be taking the 2,800 sq ft retail unit at Wellington House, SW1. This will be The Quarter Group’s fourth premises in London, and will expand upon the highly successful Chelsea Quarter Café on the King’s Road, The River Quarter Kitchen in Battersea, Plantation Wharf, on the Thames, and the recently opened café in Heal’s on Tottenham Court Road.
Colette O’Shea, Head of Development in London at Land Securities, said:
“We are very excited to welcome Jamie Oliver’s (taking Kings Gate development) and The Royal Quarter Café to Victoria. In the heart of SW1, Victoria is returning to its rightful place at the centre of London life – a place where people want to live, work, shop and socialise. The two restaurants will be a great addition to the area, catering to local residents, visitors and world-leading firms such as Microsoft, Jimmy Choo, Tom Ford and Burberry, which already call Victoria home.”

With the cladding complete and the building waterproofed, construction at Wellington House is entering its final phase. “I am more than pleased with the stonework,” enthuses artist Georgia Russell as she surveys the finished cladding. “Just as I envisaged, the natural light changes the aspect of the carved patterns as it moves around the building and animatesthe façade.” Inside, the 59 apartments are a hive of activity. “First fixes and dry lining are almost complete,” reports Chris Mott, Site Manager for Wates. “On the middle floors, dry-lining is moving onto the second fix stage. Down on first and second, the walls are being plastered, ceilings installed, bathrooms tiled, and the wooden floors are about to be laid.” With all these extra finishing touches underway, the number of operatives on site has increased to 140. At street level, glazing of the retail units is now underway whilst the new colonnade pillars have been clad in the signature red Indian sandstone.
