A helicopter clipped the top of the crane on The Tower at around 8am today. The pilot wanted to land at London Heliport at Battersea due to bad weather. The crane at the St George’s Wharf development is currently “in a precarious position”.

The Tower will have a dramatic "vertical axis" wind turbine generating 20,000kWh of energy per year for the 223 flats below. Boreholes have been drilled 160 metres to reach the London aquifer, where groundwater remains at a constant temperature all year round.
Water is pumped from the boreholes and used to heat apartments and provide hot water. High-performance triple glazing acts as an insulation skin.

The Tower will soar almost 600ft and house 223 of the capital’s most luxurious homes, including a unique three-storey penthouse.
“This exclusive scheme will appeal to a truly international audience, as London is still recognised as the world capital,” says Mark Griffiths, managing director of St George. He says The Tower is already “generating a lot of interest” from around the globe.
