The Crown Estate celebrated the topping out of Block W5 South Regent Street at a ceremony attended by The Crown Estate and the project team, including the development managers Exemplar, architects AHMM, and the main contractor Mace.
Since refurbishment work started in May 2013, the building’s Grade II listed façade has been fully restored, while the building’s interior and services are being replaced and modernised with world-class office environments and commercial space.
The W5 South development is part of Crown Estate's £1 billion Regent Street investment programme. They have already completed 16 redevelopments and major refurbishments. The Crown Estate's ambitious Quadrant redevelopment was the most significant addition to London's public realm since Trafalgar Square and has won more than 10 awards (incorporating AirW1 offices).
David Shaw, Head of the Regent Street Portfolio and John Grinnell the Development Manager joined the entire construction and professional team to bury a twig from a yew tree into the concrete on the roof of Block W5 South, in the traditional manner.
Work is scheduled for completion towards the end of 2015.
