The classical villa was designed by the third Earl of Burlington (1694-1753), drawing inspiration from his grand tours' of Italy, especially Palladio's Villa Rotonda in Vicenza.
2009 - The estate is restored by English Heritage. Main contractor: Waterlilly. Architect: Dannatt Johnson Architects. Structural Engineer: Gifford. Services Engineer: Roger Parker Associates.
