Skinners' Hall
Key Details
Overview
The Skinners Hall renovation started in May 2022 and the venue is due to reopen in mid-2024.
The project started in 2016 when the Court employed a consultant team led by Professor Tom Emerson from 6a architects to develop conservation and maintenance plans for Skinners' Hall. The final design was approved by the Court in January 2021 and planning permission was granted in February 2021.
Rooff Ltd, a family-run business from London, has been selected to carry out the building work. Interior design decisions will be made during 2022 and 2023. The goal is to enhance Hall's grand public rooms, upgrade all services like lifts and heating, and open up two new spaces for Skinners and commercial clients, whilst retaining the historical character of the Hall.
A central goal of the project is to decrease the Hall's carbon footprint to meet the City's low emission targets for 2040 and improve access for people with mobility challenges, in line with the principles of equality of access.
