The construction work to replace a disused boiler house in Clapton Park is now underway.

The 26 new homes at Pedro Street (50% for social rent, 50% for shared ownership) include a mix of family-sized and smaller properties designed to meet local housing needs, with local people offered first dibs on moving into them.

The project is part of the Council’s not-for-profit programme to build thousands of new homes itself across the borough, will also improve nearby public spaces to link the new properties to Gilpin Square.

The new homes, which all have a balcony or terrace and access to a new shared garden, are due to be completed in 2022.

Since 2011, the Council has completed 981 new homes, with 54% for social rent, shared ownership and living rent.
