Grace House

Dora House has been renamed 'Grace House’.

The new name was chosen in a naming competition among residents of the now-demolished Dora House, and it reflects both the local area's connection to cricket as well as C&C's long history.

The 170-flat redevelopment for over-55s is set to open in 2022.

Barry Mitchell, 71, who lived at Dora House for five years and who provided the winning entry in the renaming competition, commented: "The name ‘Grace’ not only celebrates the House’s wonderful location practically opposite the Grace Gates at Lord’s - named after former England cricketer WG Grace – but in addition acknowledges C&C’s custom of using female names at a number of its sheltered housing schemes. Dora, Ada and Edna are just some past and present examples of this."

Julia Ashley, Chief Executive of C&C, added: "Grace House’ is the perfect name for a new development that we are proud to be associated with. The building has ample grace and style about it and will play a strong part in creatively reimagining what affordable housing can look like for over-55s in London."
