Developers Mitsubishi Estate London and Stanhope have announced the completion of their new landmark building, 8 Bishopsgate in the historic financial district of the City of London.

The ambitious project, which started in 2019, witnessed the integration of 6-8 Bishopsgate and 150 Leadenhall Street into a towering office complex, standing at approximately 204 meters.

Designed by Wilkinson Eyre architects, the building boasts 51 floors above ground, 3 floors below ground, and a one-story tower, culminating in a total floor area of approximately 85,000 m2. The successful completion ceremony took place on July 13, 2023.

Highlighting the significance of the project, Mitsubishi Estate London reveals that this is their seventh office development project in the UK, with an investment of approximately 114 billion yen, making it the largest overseas project to date for the Mitsubishi Estate Group (as of the end of FY2022).

Key Features of 8 Bishopsgate Include:

+ A towering new landmark positioned strategically at the intersection of the City's two main streets: Bishopsgate and Leadenhall Street.

+ A dramatic increase in leasable space by nearly 2.8 times, achieved by merging two adjacent properties.

+ The building is designed to meet the highest environmental certifications, with over 10% of its total area dedicated as a communal amenity space. This includes an outdoor terrace, business lounge, and a town hall.

The building's environmentally-conscious design is in line with the RIBA 2030 Challenge and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Notably, it features a glass façade with optimal environmental performance, solar panels, and the utilization of greywater regenerated from rainwater. The building anticipates achieving an Outstanding BREEAM certification, a leading sustainability rating in the UK, and has been granted the highest A rating in the EPC rating, emphasizing its energy efficiency.

Catering to the evolving needs of modern professionals, 8 Bishopsgate doesn't provide car parking. Instead, it offers ample bicycle parking areas and associated facilities, promoting eco-friendly commuting options and supporting a healthier work-life balance.

Mitsubishi Estate London Limited, established in 1986, has been a significant player in the European property market. Over the past 40 years, they've successfully acquired and developed 19 buildings across Europe.
