Overview

St John's Church is a Grade I listed building on Smith Square, London SW1.

The former church was turned into a concert hall after the it was hit by a bomb in the Second World War.

Designed by Thomas Archer.

The building has a nickname 'Queen Anne's Footstool'. According to the legend, Thomas Archer asked for advice for the new church designed. Queen Anne kicked her footstool upside down and said he should take inspiration from that.

The nearest tube station is St James's Park.
