George House

The five artisan shops, situated to the rear of the new George House at 131 Sloane Street, will be joined by further skilled independents and a soon to be announced destination restaurant, which will overlook a ‘hidden’ courtyard garden inspired by Corso Como, Milan.

The five shops include a traditional family butcher, Provenance, fine wine shop, Pavilion Wine, bakery and school Bread Ahead, Natoora, a greengrocer offering a range of fresh seasonal produce and London Cheesemongers, who specialise in sourcing traditional produced cheeses.

All shops will be open by the end of the year 2016.

In summer of 2015, Cadogan held a public consultation to find out what the residents wanted to see in the neighbourhood. More than 75% of the respondents thought independently owned shops selling quality produce would enhance Chelsea’s village feel and benefit the local community.

Hugh Seaborn, CEO of Cadogan said:
“We spent over a year actively seeking the right ‘artisans’ who would become part of the community – small, independently run shops that deliver a richer experience and enhance Chelsea’s village feel. We had clear direction of residents’ desires for shops that serve local people, so we deliberately sought leaders in their field to meet these requirements. Pavilion Road is already home to some of the best independent fashion and beauty operators, and with an exciting restaurant soon to be announced, these new additions will add further vibrancy and character to the area.”

Tom Gibson, owner of Provenance, commented:
“Chelsea's bustling heart is Sloane Square, and to be so close to the action is an exciting prospect for all of us at Provenance. The sense of history in Chelsea, combined with the beautiful streets and houses, and the eclectic mix of nationalities makes for a perfect place to become part of a renewed food movement in the area.

“The Cadogan Estate's longstanding knowledge of the area combined with their vision to create a genuine village feel in Pavilion Road was also an opportunity we could not turn down. After all, every village needs a good butcher at its heart.”

Jared Wybrow, Director at London Cheesemongers, said:
“We are very excited to be launching our first bricks and mortar to the discerning people of Chelsea. Our range of cheeses covers familiar produce as well as some new and exciting choices. We are immensely proud of our seasonal and evolving selection and aim to educate as well as impress with accurate, transparent and honest information for our customers.”

Matt Jones, Founder of Bread Ahead, commented:
“We’re very excited to bring Bread Ahead to Pavilion Road. We can’t wait to get to know our neighbours, locals and visitors to the area, and are thrilled to be able to open our second bakery school here, teaching the masses everything from the perfect sourdough to our famous doughnuts!”

Tim Ballard, Natoora Brand Director, said:
“We are excited to be building on the area’s reputation for food and ingredient shopping and joining other producers on Pavilion Road in bringing the best-tasting produce to the area.”

Tomasz Kuszneruk, Manager of Pavilion Wine, commented:
“Since our recent opening on Pavilion Road, we have met so many friendly locals, many of whom are already becoming regulars in our new store. We always ensure our offering to customers includes adventurous new wines which go hand in hand with our wine room, a popular place for consumers to relax and take in one of our art exhibitions.”

The new stores are a part of the plan helping Cadogan maintain and continually enhance Chelsea as one of the world’s best places in which to live, shop, visit and work.
