The Marq

The Marq development's “topping out” ceremony was held yesterday, reports the Crown Estate.

This exciting new headquarters office development provides six floors of flexible, column-free workspace and on track for completion in April 2019. The Marq will be the only completely new build office to be delivered in St James’s throughout 2019.

Designed by John McAslan and Partners/Rolfe Judd, and delivered by Skanska, The Marq occupies the corner of Duke Street St James’s and Jermyn Street. The offices feature a double-height reception space with terrazzo artwork, bespoke patented bronze entry gates and corner stone artwork, designed by artist Jacqueline Poncelet to reflect the tradition of craftsmanship in St James’s.

The development also incorporates a flexible 5,000 sq ft flagship retail space and 5,000 sq ft restaurant or gallery space, both of which occupy the ground and basement levels. These units will add life and vibrancy to this prominent street corner in St James’s, and spaces of this size have not be available on Jermyn Street for several years.

The Marq is one of the UK’s first buildings specifically designed to achieve WELL Certification, reflecting a concerted effort to optimise air quality, natural light and healthy workplace behaviours. It is aiming to achieve WELL Gold Certification and BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ for the office space.

Oliver Smith, Head of St James’s at The Crown Estate said: “We are excited to reveal The Marq, and details of the office and retail space that is available in the development. It is The Crown Estate’s first entirely new build office development in St James’s for three years and as the only office development in St James’s that will be delivered next year it presents a unique opportunity. We are looking forward to working with clients and partners to ensure this development builds on St James’s reputation as an exceptional place to do business in London.”

In the offices, the appointed agents are CBRE and Levy Real Estate. The retail agents are Colliers and Nash Bond, and for restaurant or gallery space the agents are Colliers and Davis Coffer Lyons.
