The next phase of development is now underway at Feature17, reports Countryside.
Demolition work undertaken on site has marked the start of the building programme, which will see the delivery of 128 new homes as part of the second phase of the project, expected to complete in March 2020.
The new phase includes a variety of houses and apartments across a mixture of tenures, as well as a play area and landscaped plaza.
Upon completion, expected to take place in 2024, Feature17 will provide 436 new homes, with 38% affordable, among which 150 council homes for affordable rent. Since the beginning of the construction works on the scheme, Countryside has completed 80 homes, including both private and affordable units.
The first phase at Feature17, completed in November 2018, comprises spacious, high-specification one, two and three-bedroom apartments. All of these homes feature contemporary open-plan living areas and outdoor space in the form of either a private terrace or balcony. The light and airy apartments are located in an attractive seven-storey brick-faced building, seamlessly blending with its surroundings. As part of this phase, Countryside also constructed an Energy Centre and a commercial unit, which now houses a local Co-Op.
As part of the scheme, Countryside will create flexible retail space managed by the council around a new plaza with a play area, water feature and improved walkways and cycle routes, linking into Waltham Forest’s ‘Mini Holland’ scheme. The new community and commercial space seeks to reinvigorate the former estate and the wider area through thoughtful landscaping and an emphasis on community facilities, encouraging residents to spend more time outdoors.
