All structural works at 16 Eastcheap have now been completed and the scheme is ready for the final stages of the refurbishment, reports contractor Collins.

The project will deliver an enhanced street presence, remodelled reception area and premium workspace throughout. The Collins team have removed the existing roof and created a new 6th floor and roof terrace to provide exceptional views of the City skyline and River Thames.

Collins has used almost 62 tonnes of steel and 50 cubes of concrete to create the new floor and roof terrace, as well as a warm roof build up and zinc shingle for the roof extension.

The stone façade has been adapted and curtain walling windows installed to improve the ground floor for retail use and to better engage with the street. The ground floor has been also been remodelled to create an impressive, enlarged reception area.

The lower ground floors have been reconfigured to form amenity space for the offices, providing bicycle storage and high quality changing and shower facilities. This has been achieved by subdividing the floor spaces into the landlord’s plant space and areas to for the shower, cycle and changing room amenities, inclusive of new services.

Completion is expected in Q1 2021.
