Completion

John Sisk & Son has completed 1,201 new homes at E03 Canada Gardens and E05 The Robinson Build to Rent developments in Quintain's Wembley Park.

The projects with a combined value of £420 million were delivered successfully despite the Covid-19 pandemic.

Flagship development Canada Gardens, with 743 Build to Rent (BtR) homes, is the largest at Wembley Park with a project value of £245 million and has been Sisk’s largest UK job. Of these homes, 303 are classed as Discount Market Rent, spread throughout the development to ensure they are tenure blind and all under the management of Quintain Living, as are the market price homes.

The Robinson development next to Canada Gardens had a contract value of £176.8 million and is aimed at sharers, with up to four-bedroom homes. The unique amenities include rooftop caravans, a hot tub and one of the longest row of sun loungers in the UK at 50 meters long. The Sky Lounge, which wraps around a courtyard on the 16th floor, is accessible by a seven-meter-long slide from the rooftop and includes a polkadot London Taxi coffee bar.

Both projects have Envac integrated, an innovative system that sucks waste and recycling down underground tunnels at 70kph to a collection centre at the edge of Wembley Park, minimising the use of refuse lorries and negating the use of large household bins and ground-floor bin storage facilities for residents.

Completion of the Eastern Lands means that Quintain has now completed 65% of the Wembley Park masterplan.

Ajaz Shafi, Managing Director, UK South, John Sisk & Son commented: “We are absolutely thrilled to complete our flagship project Canada Gardens and most recently The Robinson at Wembley Park. We have invested significantly in digital and offsite construction to ensure a first-class delivery. We have seen award-winning innovation during these projects and exciting new ways of working to deliver a best-in-class product, including radical digitalisation and our first use of precast panels. The Robinson marks our 11th project in 16 years in partnership with Quintain at Wembley Park. To deliver both Canada Gardens and The Robinson in the midst of the challenges of the Covid-19 global pandemic is a testament to the resilience and outstanding work ethic of our team and supply chain partners.”

Matt Voyce, Executive Director of Construction at Quintain said: “In 2016, Eastern Lands was simply surface car parking reminiscent of when Wembley Park was purely used for event days. Now, Canada Gardens and The Robinson with over 1,200 new homes have been delivered on time and to budget, through the skill of our exceptional project management teams and contractors. Through the remarkable levels of collaboration, we have been able to work leaner and more efficiently than ever before. Delivering these projects during the uncertainty of Brexit, changing fire safety regulations and a global pandemic has been no mean feat and ultimately a huge success.”

On E03 Canada Gardens, 40 per cent of staff were locally employed, with 35 apprentices, 21 of which were local. On E05 The Robinson, 34 per cent were locally employed, with 33 apprentices hired, 22 of which were local.
