Public consultation

Work at Chrisp Street has started but retail and housing demands have changed and the developer is now asking Tower Hamlets Council for permission to deliver more affordable homes, which will be available to rent rather than to buy privately.

They are also proposing some minor changes to the design of the buildings, some of the retail layouts and to the amenity spaces. This exhibition will take you through these changes before going back to Tower Hamlets Council to submit our revised planning application in early 2022.

The plans for the redevelopment propose an additional 98 new homes to the number that Tower Hamlets Council has already consented to (totalling 741 new homes, a 16% increase on the approved scheme).

Around half of the additional homes (by habitable room) will be affordable. Of the affordable homes, 49% will be family-sized dwellings.

See the revised plans on the development website at chrispstreet.org.uk.

The deadline for feedback on proposals is 5pm on Sunday 19th December 2021.
