Network Homes has started work on the 158 new homes near Central Middlesex Hospital in Park Royal.

Durkan has been appointed to build the development and will begin at the site in Central Way this month.

Four new buildings designed by Haworth Tompkins a range of one, two- and three-bedroom homes with 134 properties for Shared Ownership and 24 for London Affordable Rent. The buildings will be connected to the Luma Development, also profiled on Buildington, around the beautifully landscaped gardens.

The historic former refectory will be retained as a commercial space.

David Gooch, Executive Director for Development at Network Homes, commented: "We’re really pleased to be working in partnership with Durkan and delighted to see this exciting project get underway. The development will deliver much needed affordable housing as well as employment opportunities in an area undergoing rapid change and regeneration. It also supports us with our strategic objective in increasing the number of homes for people in housing need by starting on a minimum of 1,000 affordable homes by March 2023."

Tim Carpenter, Managing Director for construction at Durkan, added: “It’s brilliant to have been appointed to deliver this project, and we’re pleased to continue our partnership with Network Homes, who we’ve been building homes with for over 20 years.

“This scheme is particularly exciting because it will transform the current site and is a key part of a wider regeneration plan for Old Oak and Park Royal, an area set for major positive change and to become a transport hub where High Speed 2 will meet Crossrail. Importantly, these new homes will be offered at London Affordable Rent and as shared ownership, helping local people get onto the housing ladder – something that’s more important than ever amid rising property prices.”
