Topped out

Contractor Willmott Dixon and Westminster City Council celebrated the topping out of 300 Harrow Road last week, on Friday 11 November.

The development of 112 affordable homes has now reached its highest point and is due to be completed at the end of 2023.

In recent changes that the Council approved, the 300 Harrow Road development's tenure was changed from market sale to Council homes for social rent. The newly approved plans set out that all 61 market sale homes will now be delivered as Council homes.

All homes with one bedroom, including studios, will be at intermediate rent and homes with at least two bedrooms will be held as council housing for social rent.

Cllr Matt Noble, Cabinet Member for Climate Action, Regeneration and Renters at Westminster City Council commented: "It’s fantastic to see the progress that has been made in hitting this Topping Out milestone and the team has worked extremely hard to build new homes, especially family-sized homes, which our residents desperately need.

We recently announced an increase in the number of truly affordable homes we’re delivering in Westminster, and 300 Harrow Road is the first step in this new plan. Previously only 17 homes here were going to be for social rent – we have now increased this to 77 new homes for social rent and 35 for intermediate rent, which means the scheme is now 100% affordable.

300 Harrow Road will deliver the same high quality, energy efficient, modern homes that will suit the needs of our residents and will help build a fairer city for everyone to live in."
