Construction has begun on the refurbishment of Peterborough Court, a landmark office development at 133 Fleet Street.

The building, formerly the European headquarters of Goldman Sachs, will be transformed into 292,000 sq ft of Grade A workspace and ground floor retail across 11 floors.

The project, which is expected to be completed in Q2 2024, will feature flexible floor plates ranging from 16,000 to 33,000 sq ft, private terraces on four floors, and a public courtyard. It will also include a long gallery entrance with new glazing and sustainability-focused interiors.

Mace has been appointed as the main contractor on the project, which is being managed by Broadwater Capital and has a budget of £120 million.

Stewart Ward, Managing Director of Mace, Interiors, commented: “We are delighted that the Mace interiors team will be playing a key role in delivering such an ambitious landmark project. As a responsible business we are particularly proud to deliver workplaces with strong sustainability credentials and we look forward in making this bold vision a reality.”

Phillip Bennison, Head of Development and Investment at Broadwater Capital, added: “Demand for prime, amenity-focused offices in central London continues to strengthen post-pandemic, as businesses seek to create engaging and versatile spaces for employees to work together, especially those with embedded cosy, relaxed open spaces and innovative features.’

“Peterborough Court will be remodeled to provide corporates with a world-class headquarters, designed to the highest sustainability standards, and to promote well-being, productivity and collaborative working. Peterborough Court combines the highest contemporary ESG standards with an iconic address, a fantastic workspace environment, specular City views and impeccable transportation links.”
