The City of London Corporation’s planning committee has recently approved for the renewal and extension of the Grade II-listed Ibex House.

Dukelease and Henderson Park have appointed architects, AHMM, to return this iconic building to ‘best-in-class’ office provision, with a sensitive and discreet multi-layered refurbishment, including a pair of refined single-storey pavilions at ground, and another at roof level. The design provides increased access to the building on three sides, with a new community space at the centre of the ground floor.

Completed in 1935, Ibex House was designed with striking horizontal lines and curved corners of the fashionable ‘Streamline Modern’ movement and is a rare survivor from this period.

The proposals for the development are designed with sustainability in mind, with a focus on reducing operational and embodied carbon emissions. The building will be retrofitted with energy-efficient measures such as high-performance glazing and insulation, natural ventilation will be introduced, the building will be all-electric and it will provide the necessary bike parking to meet the London Plan standards.
