A four-bedroom duplex penthouse spanning 2,467 sq ft at Sixty Three Curzon Street is available for rent at £4,000 per week through Mayfair specialists Wetherell.

The fully furnished home occupies the fifth and sixth floors of the contemporary portered building, situated just a two-minute stroll from Berkeley Square's open green space. Curzon Street, a prime central London address, connects Fitzmaurice Place to Park Lane and Hyde Park.

The penthouse is entered via smart glass double doors at street level, and then a lift takes you directly to the fifth floor, only accessible by the apartment’s resident.

The interior features a wide hallway with dark wood parquet flooring, a 39 ft. 4 in. by 13 ft. 11 in. open-plan living, dining, and kitchen area, and air conditioning throughout. The space is cleverly zoned using furniture, rugs, and lighting, with a cohesive color scheme of creams, grays, and greiges.

The kitchen area has cream-stone flooring, pale glossy cabinetry, a kitchen island, and pendant lighting. Recessed LED lighting and contemporary chandeliers supplement the natural light from large windows overlooking Curzon Street. The fifth floor also includes a large bedroom with concealed storage and one of three luxurious bathrooms.

The sixth floor, accessible via a dark wood-tread and glass-balustraded staircase, houses two of the three bedrooms, both with floor-to-ceiling glazing and ensuite bathrooms, along with a dedicated utility room.

The area has seen significant upgrades, such as the completion of No. 61 Curzon Street, the refurbishment of the Mirabelle restaurant, and the redevelopment of the Carrington Street car park into a mixed-use office and residential scheme. Plans are in place for an arcade linking Curzon Street and Stratton Street to the east.

Rental values in Mayfair have risen by 14% over the past five years, averaging £72 per sq. ft. in 2023. Apartments in the area have experienced high demand since the pandemic, with a spike in sales volume, values, and lets. The average letting price for a three-bedroom apartment was £3,065, and a house £3,503.

It's all part of what Peter Wetherell, Founder and Executive Chairman of the eponymous firm, describes as Mayfair’s “New Roaring Twenties,” with the area transformed by vastly improved public realms, Dubai-style new-build apartments with seven-star services, the launch of flagship hotels and revived luxury retail. But if you also hanker for vignettes of Mayfair’s old-world charm, you’ll find it still very much in evidence on Curzon Street.

Originally known as Mayfair Row in the early 19th century, Curzon Street was renamed in honor of George Howe, the 3rd Viscount Howe. It has a rich history, having been home to Benjamin Disraeli and frequented by literary figures such as John Le Carré, Oscar Wilde, and Virginia Woolf.

Benjamin Disraeli chose to live on the street until his death in 1881 – he would have been familiar with barber and men’s perfumer GEO F Trumper, which still has its original shopfront and mahogany interiors at No 9 (pop in for a vial of Eucris, the “manly cologne” much loved by James Bond and Hercule Poirot.

Today, Curzon Street remains a hub of London's cultural life, boasting the 1930s arthouse Curzon Cinema, a favourite for red-carpet premieres and events, and exclusive private members' clubs. The Lansdowne Club, for example, practically opposite the apartment, has been welcoming men and women with equal status since the 1930s; Annabel’s at 46 Berkeley Square, has been lavishly overhauled to attract a new A list clientele, and, upstairs at the Michael Caine-founded Langan’s Brasserie, a Studio 54-style bar area is invite-only.

Several of London's finest dining establishments are within a 10-minute walk, including Scott's, Hakkasan, Cecconi's, Sexy Fish, The Wolseley, and The Ritz.

Peter Wetherell, Founder and Executive Chairman of Wetherell, commented: “It has taken a long time for this part of Curzon Street to finally shine, but it is all coming together beautifully now. Several state-of-the-art conversions and new schemes are either completed or underway, with many more improvements in the pipeline. The street may be undergoing reinvention, but it has lost none of its charm, close to perfectly preserved pockets of ‘Old Mayfair’, and with Berkeley Square serving as a sculpture-filled garden.”

Matthew Huybrechts, Lettings Director of Wetherell, said: “Curzon Street is an iconic Mayfair location, offering an intoxicating mix of fascinating history and contemporary living. In a modern, immaculately maintained portered building, this apartment is in a particularly good spot on the street, just a two-minute walk from Berkeley Square, and within five minutes of the wide open spaces of Green Park and Hyde Park.

“Entered through smart glass double doors, and accessed by a lift that goes directly up to the fifth floor, this fully furnished duplex penthouse is the building's most exclusive home. Within the 2,467 sq. ft. of interior-designed living space, there is a combination of airy, open-plan but cleverly zoned areas and four bedrooms. Luxurious touches include air conditioning, dark wood parquet flooring and a combination of contemporary chandeliers and recessed LED lighting. It works equally well as a private Prime Central London retreat or entertaining space."
